Our database will be unable to register and the VistaPoint Notes service will fail
- You should not install the server components under terminal services
Our database will be unable to register and the VistaPoint Notes service will fail
- The IP address of the VistaPoint server should be added as a trusted endpoint before you install the server component
Getting Started
- Decompress the contents of “Server.zip”

- RUN “Setup.exe”
- Select your components and click on “ok”
Checkmark the following
- VISTAPOINT ENTERPRISE SERVER
This is by default the only check box that is enabled. VP: PCE, DATABASE and LICENSING services
- 3Com VCX SIM
This needs to be installed and configured to get call control functioning. Typically this gets installed on the VISTAPOINT ENTERPRISE SERVER but there are some configurations that may require this to be installed on a secondary machine.
OPTIONAL COMPONENTS
* One-Click Install (Requires IIS) * Client Web Installations (Requires IIS) If you installed the optional components you can configure the IQ web server in IIS. The client installer path is http://localhost/iq/installs/index.htm * VistaPoint Enterprise Directory (Requires IIS and site license) * CstaAPI (OCS GATEWAY) - coming soon Install this to enable call control for COMMUNICATOR clients * SIPSIM- coming soon Install this to integrate OCS and VISTAPOINT Click here for configuration help after you have configured your VistaPoint Server
- After the files have been installed and when the license dialogue displays fill out the information and enter in your Product Key if you do not have a product key leave these fields blank

- Selecting “Internet Licensing” Instantly applies the license values to the machine - show me
- Alternatively Select “Email Licensing” - show me
This will save a file you can then email to iqlicense@iqnsi.com. Our license server will automatically send you a decryption key to un-lock the software so long as the product key is valid and has not already been used.
- Selecting “Cancel” because you do not have a valid product key will Begins a 30 Day Evaluation of the software. It is important not to tamper with the system clock while running under a demo because doing so will invalidate your demo system until you purchase a software key
- REBOOT WHEN PROMPTED
- When logging in you will need to enter in a “Admin” and “Tenant Admin” password (these need to be unique, do not use the same password for each)
- When prompted “Monitored device pattern is empty” click “OK” to define what phones you wish to monitor
Note: during initial configuration you should define this to pull in a small amount of phones. Later you can redefine the string to finalize the system. This can be done from the system tray on the VP server. The “Subscription period” is the amount of time it takes to read in all the devices. My Example above: 1001-1005 “5 Phones” + 9001-9005 “5 Phones” Total = 10 Phones. These phones will become active in the VistaPoint system 20 seconds after the VCX SIM has initialized. It is recommended that you give at lease 1 second per device, 300 devices should be safely set @ 300 seconds etc...

You can change the “Monitoring Parameters” from the system tray (VCX SIM right click).
VCXSIM>Options>Global Directory>Monitoring parameters
- Install the VistaPoint Desktop companion OR Console (this will be used to verify the SIP functionality of the VistaPoint 3Com VCX SIM and will allow you to administer the system)
You do not need to install the .NET Framework (cancel this when prompted)
- Launch the client application
- Enter in your extension number
- Enter in the IP Address or host name of the VP Server (if the client is installed on the server this step will be skipped)
In The Running Client - You should see no devices until the VCX SIM is configured
CONFIGURING THE SERVICE
- Create the directory C:\Temp if it doesn’t exist
- Double click on the VCX SIM

- Enter in the IP Address of the VCX Server (Call Processor port) - Primary Server
- Enter in the IP Address of the Secondary server (Call Processor port) if you have one
- Leave the MAC address in the user name field (leave the password and other fields empty)
- Click on “OK”
Example:
Note: Once you restart the service it will automatically populate the “Dialing domain” field
- Right click on the VCX SIM and select “Options>Global directory>SFTP Parameters
- On the Primary TAB Enter in the IP address of the VCX Server (Data Processor port) this is often the same port as the Call Processor but in larger installs it might have its own address
- Enter in user name “cworks” and password for that account which is documented by 3Com
- If you have a secondary server enter the values under the “Secondary Server” TAB as well
Example:
- Restart the “VistaPoint 3Com VCX SIM” service (or reboot the machine)
After the Service initializes you should see all the active BLF Cells in your desktop application (as defined in your defined monitor list STEP 10)
VERIFICATION OF THE VCX SIM
- Hovering the Mouse over the VCX SIM
If it say’s “Operational” the SIM is configured correctly
- Look to C:\temp\masterDirectory.xml
If file is on the system (SFTP is configured correctly)
