About the LCS Gateway
The LCS Gateway is an add-on module for the VistaPoint Enterprise server. After installing and configuration Microsoft Office Communicator users will be able to control there desktop phone using the call control buttons provided by Microsoft. Additionally the IM status will update and show other users that they are on the phone.
Licensing
LCS INTIGRATION (Demo License includes enough SIM licenses to accommodate these two additional components found on your server install disk. If you have a preexisting install of the VistaPoint Enterprise and have not purchased these additional licenses contact sales@iqnsi.com
SETUP AND CONFIGURATION - LCS SERVER (SP1)
- You may need to configure the domain policies for phone integration to work.
- The administration template is located on the LCS05 CD (communicator.adm) You need to configure and enable the call integration components you wish in the GPO provided
by Microsoft Example:“Enable Computer to Phone calls, Enable Conferencing, Enable Phone Control etc...”
- Open up the properties page for the LCS user pool
- Select the “Host Authentication” tab and enter in the IP address (not the host name) of the VistaPoint server and set the values
- Outbound Only (no)
- Throttle As Server (yes)
- Treat As Authenticated (yes)
Note: Currently we are not requiring any additional settings, in the future this might change. Setting a static route is not necessary and should be avoided unless otherwise stated
- Create two LCS enabled user accounts for the VistaPoint services
- sip:csta@yourdomain.com (case sensitive)
- sip:sipsim@yourdomain.com (case sensitive)
Note: csta and sipsim are the recommended names, yourdomain.com is an example and user names are case sensitive. These accounts should not have call control enabled but they do need the Federation settings enabled.

- Configure each of your Live Communication users’ “advanced settings” to enable call control. This will allow Office Communicator to manipulate that user’s “PBX Specific” Phone as identified in the tel: URI.
- Enable federation (yes)
- Enable public IM (yes) may be optional
- Enable remote user access (yes) may be optional
- Enable Remote Call Control (yes)
- TEL URI (tel:xxxx)
Replace xxxx with the correct ”PBX specific” extension number
- Remote Call Control SIP URI
Example: sip:csta@yourdomain.com (as noted, case sensitive)

Installing the Vistapoint Server Components for LCS
- If you already have already installed and configured a VistaPoint server you can add the modules by doing an “add/remove” software and select the “VistaPoint Enterprise Server “. Choose “modify install” and add in the following components... (reboot as needed)
- CstaAPI (LCS GATEWAY)
Install this to enable call control for Office Communicator clients
- SIPSIM
Install this to integrate LCS and VISTAPOINT for a seamless call control platform
LCS GATEWAY CONFIGURATION
CSTA API (LCS Gateway)
- Double click on the “VistaPoint CSTA API” tray icon
- Click on the “Sip Server…” configuration button
- Sip URI = sip:csta@yourdomain.com (case sensitive)
- User = csta (case sensitive)
Example

- Reboot the VistaPoint server
VERIFICATION OF CSTA API (LCS Gateway)
- Open up the VistaPoint License administrator and make sure the service is consuming a license
- If your OC Client was already logged in you will need to log them off/on
- If your user has a phone associated with it (see LCS configuration) they should now be able to make and receive calls through Office Communicator. When they are on the phone Communicator status should update to “on the phone”.
Note: There are some limitations here “currently”.
- We do not update to “on the phone” if the status is set to anything other then idle (meaning if you set yourself to “away” we will not interfere due to users privacy).
- Virtualization is problematic and should be avoided w/CstaAPI SIM
SIPSIM
OFFICE COMMUNICATOR
Recommended that you keep the configuration control set to “Automatic”
